Step-by-Step Almased Smoothie-Mixing Guide

Most people like Almased just the way it is, completely natural without any added flavors. But some of us need that little spice of life with Almased. Use this smoothie-mixing guide to help make your very own special Almased recipe.

1. Decide how much Almased you will be using

The general rule of thumb is to use 6 Tbsp of Almased if you are shorter than 5’6”, 8 Tbsp, if you are between 5’6” and 6’0” and 10 Tbsp, if you are taller than 6’0”. The amount of Almased can be adjusted depending on your calorie needs, weight loss progress, and level of physical activity during the diet. Generally, people will take 8 Tbsp of Almased.

2. Choose your liquid

A typical Almased smoothie calls for 8 Tbsp of Almased mixed in with 12 oz of cold liquid for the best consistency. Of course, you can adjust the amount of liquid as you prefer, but remember, the more liquid you add the higher calories you will be consuming unless you use water. You can either mix a full amount of 12 oz cold liquid such as unsweetened almond milk with Almased or consider going half and half with 6 oz unsweetened almond milk and 6 oz water.   • Coconut milk

3. Select your oil

Add 1 tsp of oil to each Almased smoothie to include healthy fats in your diet. Healthy fats provide omega-3’s that have anti-inflammatory properties and can support cognitive and cardiovascular function. Healthy fats can also help further the metabolism and help with cravings.   • Olive oil

4. Choose a Fiber

During a mostly to all liquid diet, it is likely that your bathroom schedule won’t be as regular since you are eating less solid foods and fiber. It is recommended during the Almased Diet to add 1-2 Tbsp of fiber-rich foods to your shakes to promote regularity. Here are some examples:

  • Ground flaxseeds (Most Popular)
  • Chia seeds
  • Hemp seeds
  • Psyllium husk

Instead of seeds or grains, you can add oats, nuts, or veggies such as kale and spinach to your smoothies. For these additions, make sure to use a sound blender to grind them up finely.

5. Pick an Extract

Since fruit is generally recommended to avoid during a diet, especially at the beginning, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fruit flavors. Try ¼-½ tsp of these extracts to help give your drinks a fruity flavor and flare:

  • Lemon Extract
  • Raspberry Extract
  • Pineapple Extract
  • Orange Extract
  • Strawberry Extract

Other non-fruity extracts include:

6. Add herbs and/or spices

Spices cannot only give smoothies a kick, but can also have numerous healing herbal properties and health benefits. Below is a list of our favorite spices and herbs:

  • Cinnamon (Most Popular)
  • Nutmeg
  • Ginger
  • Cloves
  • Allspice
  • Turmeric
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • Cilantro
  • Mint
  • Rosemary

Once you’ve chosen all of your must-have ingredients for your smoothie, blend them all together in a blender or shaker cup. If needed, you can add 1 packet of stevia sweetener. Then pour into a glass and enjoy it!
