Excerpt from The Almased Wellness Concept A Program for Healthy Weight Loss, by Dr. Aloys Berg, M.D. What Does a Healthy Diet Look Like?
The goal of a healthy diet lies in reducing body fat. Muscle mass is supposed to increase or stay unchanged. The higher the percentage of muscle mass, the higher the usage of calories in the body. Despite all scientific research, being overweight is a balance problem. Those who eat more than they use up will gain weight. Because energy consumption is different for everyone, not all people gain or lose weight with the same food consumption. The basis for weight gain has been laid through years of wrong eating and drinking habits. Frequent weight loss diets that you might have put behind you, are most certainly not the right way, since they lower the energy consumption of the body. Through the sometimes drastic shortage of calorie consumption the body "believes" that it faces famine. It therefore conserves energy. After finishing the weight loss diet the low energy usage remains and even with "regular" food one gains weight faster than before. This is where you notice the well-known yo-yo effect. |
