Appendix B: Biography of Dr. Aloys Berg, M.D.

Aloys Berg, M.D. is a medical doctor, professor and researcher. He is the head of the Department for Rehabilitative and Preventive Sports Medicine at the University Clinic Freiburg in Germany. Since the 1970s, Berg has conducted numerous studies in the areas of nutrition, weight loss, metabolism, and preventive/ rehabilitative sports medicine. He has published more than 250 scientific papers and is currently studying ways to protect muscle mass during weight reduction programs. He received his medical degree from the University of Freiburg and is certified in Sports Medicine, Habilitation. He also holds certification as a Clinical Pathologist, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Physician and a Nutrition Physician.
