Belly Dancing is great!!!

I started beginner belly dance lessons 2 weeks ago, and really like it. The instructor is a "bigger" lady, and can really shake those hips. I feel much better being instructed by someone who is not the size of a toothpick!! I do some yoga, which is good for relaxation, but not so much for a cardio workout. It is nice to try something different that I can actually do!! And for once I don't feel out of place, like I used to in gyms. Even the women only place here is too intimidating for me....too many gym rats who look like posters for anorexia. I hope to get healthier, not turn into a runway model, and starting with the Almased is a good start. Love the forums, nice to see other suggestions, and it is good for motivation and support too!!

That's funny. I am fairly new to belly dance as well and like it! I've had a break over the summer but want to start it again. I think that's a great workout, you should stick with it!

Belly Dancing is great exercise, works those abs. Very good when done right. I would say just do some surfing, I have taken a class, it was a lot of fun. I'm just not sure if a DVD can give you the same experience as in person though.
