Wahoo! It is working Wednesday, June 20, 2012 8:38 PM (permalink)
. 5 days and down 5 lbs!  Yea!  2 shakes, 1 meal and a couple of snacks.  I am pleasantly surprised to have dropped 5 without fasting  I am sure much of it is water weight, but  I am good with that.  Over the past 10 years I have lost 185 lbs--primarily by low carbing.  Unfortunately I get to 181, stall out completely, then yoyo up and down around 20 lbs.  What attracted me to Almased was the statement that it would help with longterm stabilization of my metabolism.  I am 44 and have been dieting since I was 5-- I know my metabolism is beyond screwed up.

Some questions.

I read something about measuring ph levels to monitor metabolism.  How does that work?

Can we drink a low sodium organic veggie broth - I made some of my own and it was just nasty.

When it says substitute veggie juice for broth can I sub wheatgrass, beet, or carrot?  I can't do tomato.

Thanks foe the help.

    Hi AggieSpirit,

Glad to have you join us. Congrats on the results after five days. We are very proud.

Pertaining to your questions, measuring pH levels of your urine will tell us how your metabolism is running. If your average 3-4 day morning urine pH runs below the ideal pH of 7.35 to 7.45, then that could indicate an inefficient metabolism. If you want to measure your pH, pH strips can be found at pharmacies or health food stores. At pharmacies, they may direct you to the pool/equipment area. The pH strips you purchase should come with a color chart that will tell you the reading of your color strip. After 3-4 days of measuring, if your pH level is below the ideal, we recommend the following supplements to increase the pH: 200-400 mg/d of Magnesium and up to 1000 mg/d of Potassium. Start measuring for a second 3-4 day average after you begin supplementation.

For your next question, you can drink the low sodium organic veggie broth as an alternative to home made broth. Yes you may substitute wheat grass, beet or carrots for your veggie juice.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    - Jamie
