Hey, does anybody know how to get rid of "bat wings", you know, the lose skin and fat on the underside of your arms? DO you have any exercise suggestions for that area? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thank you, ChocolateLover

Hi, I think working with weights might be good. I haven't tried these exercises myself but maybe they help: #1 Lay on the bed (or any flat surface) so that when you fully extend your arm up to your head area, they hang off the bed. Use light weights (1-2 lbs) and hold one in each hand, bring them up very slowly. It's not the speed that works the muscle, rather the force expressed during workout. Work up slowly to a rep that suits your personal needs. #2 Carry your free weight with you when you walk and work them while you work your arms. #3 With a small free weight in your hand and in a standing position, put your arm straight out. Next, bend your arm at the elbow. Next, slowly lift your arm - going towards your shoulder blade, on past until the weight is hanging above your back. Reach back as far as you can without straining. You should feel a slight pull in the underarm. This exercise is effective in working out the underarm area, assists in toning and tightening. Good luck!

I agree. Small weights do the trick. I use Denise Austin's videos, and they are great.

Chocolate Lover, don't know if you're still out there but a lot of people have this issue and question. I'm glad other members shared things they found to work and here's one more name: Stepp Stewart. There is a video clip of him only about 4 and a half minutes long. He was recently on Dr. Oz and the segment he shared was on "Banishing Bat Wings" or as he called them, echo arms. You should be able to find it on line, watch it, and do it. It is very fun using only 4 basic moves, won't cost you anything, and once you are used to it you can certainly add light hand weights and move up from there. I started doing this on my Almased journey and it is wonderful.
If you don't ask a question, you don't get an answer... lilredridinghood

I was always told that as your loosing weight, taking a short cold shower will help shrink up the loose skin... Ofcourse as the other's said working out with the weight will help build up the muscles but remember that Women won't gain as much muscle mass to fill out the loose skin that was stretched by the Fat... the Cold water showers will help some, and the exercise will help with some but it all depends on how much skin is hanging loose? you may always have some that won't go away.
