My routine Wednesday, August 08, 2012 9:04 AM (permalink)
Intially when I started on Almased I was just trying to walk as much as possible. I began by walking continuously for an hour to an hour and a half. After about a month I noticed my body wanting more. So since it was summer I took my workouts inside and began jogging for a half hour very slowly. Once I got tired I would walk the rest of the time until I got to a full hour. I ramped my exercise program up again and started using an elliptcal. Intially I was only about to stay on it for 15 minutes. Then I pushed myself to 30 minutes. Once I was able to get 30 minutes of continous exercise, I then went to the weights and lifted weights for another 30. The last month I have been increasing my exercise again. I am now running 30 minutes at about a 13-14 minute mile speed. After running I hit the wieghts. To change it up some days I just do a cycling class for a full hour. This past week I have split my work out. I go inth e morning and do 40 minutes on the tred mill jogging and some abs work. Inthe evening I do a little extra cardio on the elliptical and some weights.

I am 20lbs to my overall goal wieght and I am going to get those last 20lbs.

Initally when I started I was fasting for 7 days and walking. Then I started on the 2 shakes a day and ate a normal healthy lunch. I actually increased my activity before going on Almased. I started walking about a month before going on Almased and then in March I started the fasting phase. I have been on almased since March and have lost over 50 lbs. Some weeks I cheat pretty bad with my snacking. I have noticed how much of a crutch food has been for me. Especially when I get stressed out at work and such. The thing is that I did have to push myself at first to workout a little bit harder. The jogging was a chore when I first started, but I added this in inciments. I started with jogging non stop of 10 minutes (no matter how darn slow I was jogging). Then I increased my pace a bit. After I felt pretty comfortable I did 15 minutes of jogging. Then 20 minutes, and finally 30 minutes.

I attended some classes at the ymca near me to learn about weight lifting and added weight lifting to my regimine. My husband and I have recently started attending a cycling class there as well. This is something I would have never dreamed of joinging before. Now I can actually keep up with the class. I was even able to stand for the entire 'Baby" song by Pit Bull.

Just remember slow going at first to get used to exercise and then just keep increasing the amount, speed or time slowly. Hope this helps!

            Hello Ethen088,

I now it can be challenging to combine college and a job but try to go to bed a little earlier, maybe cutting down on some video game time. Sleep is so important and you'll feel so much better the next day.
And remember do changes in steps, not all at once.
