Day 28 and seeing continued progress, but ph still only 6.2

Hi all! Today I am on 'day 28' and the scales indicate that as of today I am 240lbs, have lost 20lbs and six inches. My next goal is to reach 220lbs. I am projecting that will be around the weekend of August 25. I am almost sixty and these results are with a sedentary lifestyle and no exercise. (Okay, one day I took a fifteen minute walk and twice I did some leg lifts.) Other progress includes the fact my pain level in my hips and knees has gone from a '4' to a '0 - 1'. That is quite a reward in itself. I look forward to having more energy and the fortitude to start exercising soon! I have fibro and find I get tired easily. Also, there are times my brain just zips along fine; but others when I get 'brain fog'. My hope is that the periods of 'brain fog' will gradually diminish with my better diet and some exercise. Journaling my progress, intake, ph, weight loss and inches lost, helps. Also I take magnesium and potassium, and now Swedish Bitters. My ph was at 5 and now is 6.2 after 7 days of the magnesium and potassium. I would like to see my ph at 7 and am looking into substituting apple cider vinegar for the Swedish Bitters. The other thing I would like to say is that I have had periods of extreme fatigue and nausea. I have had this before when losing weight and am not sure why. In the past I have given in to the temptation to just add plenty of calories, but this time I rest and eventually I feel better. I have not had much nausea for about 5 days now. Perhaps when my ph is nearer to 7 I will feel start having more energy. I hope you all persist so that you can see success. Please let me know how you are doing! Kash

Hello kash, Seems like you are doing great! What supplements are you taking and how much of each to get your pH back up? Silke

Hi Silke, Thank you for your reply and support. I am taking 500 mg of Magnesium oxide on an empty stomach. The 2 tablets of 595 mg of Potassium I take with meals. I am buying the inexpensive vitamins from the drug store. Perhaps I am not absorbing this form of magnesium? I don't know enough about the different forms. For a few days I have been adding 2 teas or more raw organic apple cider vinegar (with the 'mother') 2 - 3x a day and 2 teas of Swedish Bitters. That did it! Yesterday I finally hit 7.0. My energy levels have improved and are what they were before I started losing weight. That level is still not normal though, and I get 'brain fog' at times. Perhaps it will improve with more weight loss, or then again it may be life-long due to the fibro. Thank you again! Kash

Hello kash, Are you taking 2 tablets of 595 mg potassium each, so a total of 1190 mg potassium per day? Can you tell me the brand of this potassium tablet since most potassium pills are much less in mg. I'm happy to hear that your pH is better now. Hopefully, your energy level will be even better with more weight loss Silke

Yesterday I switched my magnesium to 'Doctor's Best'. and now take what is recommended on the package: 2 tablets twice daily. The dose of each pill is 200mg. That would mean total dosage per day is 800 mg. Perhaps I should up my potassium or switch brands? Thank you, Kathleen

Kathleen, I don't think you need to up any of your supplements. I would even recommend to reduce the dosage, especially magnesium. I usually suggest up to 1000 mg of potassium per day and 200-400 mg of magnesium. The Healthy Accents brand for potassium only contains potassium or also something else? I somehow cannot find this product online. Silke
