Looking for Tips/Advice/Answers Tuesday, June 05, 2012 1:25 PM (permalink)
I just went and bought Almased today, and going to shoot for the Bikini Diet…as I'm reading different posts and articles, I have noticed some say add oil to the mixture and other don’t mention anything about oil. Is there a correct answer here? Also, I haven't tried the veggie broth so I cant say I wont like it, but what would be the difference between drinking the broth and just eating the veggies? I was curious about that, cause I was wondering how instead of broth if I could eat fruit and veggies? I'm just looking for the best and yes easiest way for me to drop a few pounds/inches. I'm ALWAYS on the go and just don’t have time for well hardly anything. Tips would be appreciated. Thank you :)

    Hi,

I am currently doing the fasting phase of the bikini diet for the second time. The first time I did it, I did feel that it benefited me because it seemed to adjust my metabolism so that I wasn't gaining weight as easily when I finished doing it, but I failed quickly because I was not incorporating any oil or vegetable broth. I didn't really think those things mattered and didn't have them around the house. The first time I still lost about 3 lbs from doing the fast for about 2.5 days, until I gave up, lol, but the day after I went back to eating pretty normally, because I felt so weak and hungry. I didn't gain the weight back until recently with about a month of binge drinking.

Now, with a wedding coming up and totally unhappy with myself, I'm doing the fast again and I'm only on day 2 but I feel wayyyy more capable this time. I have been consuming my 2 tsp's of oil on a bed of romaine lettuce with some lemon and pepper, and then having vegetable broth about twice a day. I feel way more energized than I did the first time and feel like i'll be able to keep this up for a few more days. So, I'm not an expert, but based on my two very different experiences, I would say that oil is a good idea and I like the broth because it keeps me full, but since it is a liquid, I feel like I am flushing a lot more than I would be if I was just eating straight vegetables. I didn't make my own, I went to the organic section in kroger and bought some. Also, you have to be careful because I don't think you're supposed to be consuming the carbs from fruits. I'd say just do the fast for 3 days with just the broth, the oil, and some lettuce if you are really hungry, plus your shakes, and you'll have success.

In addition to this, if you find yourself hungry, I find that drinking a lot of tea helps! Keeps me very full.

    Good Luck!

So Day 1: Ive only done 1 shake so far. Not going to lie. wasnt horrible but wasnt great...My veggie broth was horrible that I made, but I did my own...and Im so irratated that I havent physcially ate anything today. Thoughts on how to get past this? I have a tad feeling I'm going to be a horribly cranky person.

It makes me cranky sometimes too, but the oil helps me a lot. If I'm getting toooo cranky I have a few strawberries or something. I have been eating lettuce, which helps me feel like i'm getting extra meals, but at practically no calorie cost. I'm wrapping up day 3 today, I'll weigh myself in the morning, but when I weighed today I had lost 4 lbs so far. So, that's my advice- if you want to physically eat something, choose something like lettuce. No point torturing yourself into giving up.

          Hi Nikkiwilltry,

Welcome to the Almased family. It is great to have you join us.

We recommend drinking veggie broth during diet because it is low in calories and will give you the same antioxidant as vegetables. During the fasting, we recommend drinking only liquids to help your body detox and reset the metabolism. As you transition into the second phase, the reduction phase, you may choose to snack on raw veggies along with drinking up to 4 cups of veggie broth on the side. Have you tried spicing up the broth and adding a few herbs to make it taste better for you?

How many tablespoons of Almased are you using and what are you mixing in Almased? If you are still feeling hungry after each shake, I recommend adding 1-2 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds to each shake and to continue adding the oil, 2-3 tablespoons daily to help curb hunger. You may also snack on raw veggies, a handful of nuts, low fat cheese and whole grain crackers or even have another 1/2 a shake of Almased during the second phase. Over the course of the diet, we recommend to avoid fruits as fruits can interfere with weight loss due to the amount of sugar in them. If you can forego snacking in between meals, especially mid-morning snaking, that would give you the best results. Of course, if you need to snack it would be better to help prevent yourself from overeating during the next meal.

I hope this information helps. Let me know if there is anything else.

          - Jamie

hi! i'm at the end of my second day and it's the first time i've ever tried almased before, although i thought a long time about doing it and decided that it sounded good to me. i found a bottle of banana flavored flaxseed oil in the healthfood section of a nearby grocery store - all natural, vegan-safe - and i've been putting 2 tablespoons of it into my shake, along with cold water and a little crushed ice (i used a blender in the AM and PM when i'm at home but i use "the patented BlenderBottle by Sundesa" to make my shake at lunchtime while i'm at work and it's the BEST shaker bottle i've EVER used, bar none!) the banana flavor in the flaxseed oil is mild and mixes really well with the taste of the almased and, well, it tastes really good! the only reason i jumped on to make a comment was to say that i did not expect to feel as good as i feel consuming only liquids, but i feel really okay! no headache. no weakness and no hunger! that is completely NOT usual for me. i suspect the oil is helping a lot - plus i know it's good for my heart and brain, so everything is good! feel hopeful for the first time in years and years. really truly hopeful!
