Almased Figure Plan Question Thursday, May 24, 2012 2:03 PM (permalink)
I'm new to the forum and I'm having a hard time navigating it, so hopefully I've posted this to a correct place. I'm just starting the Almased Figure Plan. I"m on Day 2 (Fasting Part). When can I do heavy exercise (spinning, mountain biking, etc)? I thought I read somewhere where it wasn't recommended on a portion of the diet but I can't remember when, or find where I read it. The actual PDF of the various diets doesn't really talk about anything other than light exercise unless you're an athlete but that doesnt seem to be a diet plan but rather a supplement to a diet for the athletes.

    Hi Pixie14,

    Thanks for posting.

Since you will be taking in a limited number of carbs during the fast, we recommend only light exercises at this time. Once you move onto the second phase of the diet, where you will be using Almased 2x daily as a meal replacement along with one sensible meal then it would be ok to increase your level of physical activity to moderate or intense. Depending on how intense your exercises are, you can add an extra half a shake to a full shake of Almased either before or after your workouts. If necessary, you may also need to snack in between. The snacks we recommend are low-fat cheese and whole grain crackers, handful of nuts, or raw veggies.

If you're an athlete and do not need to lose weight, Almased can be used a supplement instead of a meal replacement. Having 6-8 tablespoons of Almased just 1x dailycan help protect and sustain your muscle mass, necessary for keeping the metabolism up to par and meeting your energy needs.

I hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

I just started today, up until now I worked out 7+ hours a week, I do circuit training 5hrs, so I do cardio, and some heavy weights, I also do 2 hrs of some Pilates/ Yoga and Zumba and we downhill ski on the weekends. As active as I am I heavy and that is why I chose to do this fast, and to see if I am sensitive to certain foods. Can I continue to work out? how about a protein shake after? I have Xocai protein mix which is very low in sugar. I really want to see this through though I am worried if I take time off from exercise it could be hard to start again. Any advice would help, thank you so much!!!

        Hello fourjanderson,

You may continue with your workout routine but be mindful that you are on a very low calorie diet, so you may not be able to do everything in your routine but some things. You can and should have another 1/2 shake of Almased before and/or after the workout. It's not really necessary to take Xocai. I'm not familiar with this product but Almased provides your body with high-quality protein that can also benefit your exercise session.
I also encourage you reading our Fasting Figure Plan (http://www.almased.com/fi...asting_low%20res.pdf), specifically page 8 for information about exercising on the liquid diet.
