    Hello sweetooth,

The vegetable broth is very important especially during the liquid diet phase because it provides your body with antioxidants, will help keep you full and adds to the amount of liquid that you need per day.
If you don't like veggie broth, how about 100% vegetable juice?

        Hello sweetooth,

Drinking vitaminwater zero should not interfere with the weight loss progress. It is sweetened with natural sweeteners, such as Stevia.

My husband and I are in Phase 1 together, and we both had a "moment of weakness" and broke fast last night and ate a meal (and not a terribly healthy one). We rededicated ourselves immediately and went back on the plan as of this morning.  I'm having 3 shakes per day with approximately 6-7 Tbps with almond milk (can't tolerate skim dairy milk and can't take the taste/texture when mixed with water), and he mixes with skim dairy milk.  I'm also having coffee with less than a Tbsp of skim each day, two cups at most, no sugar, and plenty of water between shakes as well as healthy, homemade vegetable broth, while he stubbornly uses bullion.  We both feel "lighter", but I have not really seen any noticeable weight loss on my part so far.  I'm trying to stay determined, but the lack of progress is discouraging, but I know I'm inpatient.   The hardest part is near the end of the day when we want to exercise after work and feeling VERY hungry.

Question: Can the shakes be divided up into 6 shakes per day rather than 3 per day in order to spread the meals out more? Exercise is an important part of our weight loss journey together, but it's very difficult when you're distracted by your noisly growling tummy

Question: At what point should I expect to see results, rather than just feel them? I've seen many posting losses by Day 3, so it's natural to feel discouraged when I've not seen any progress yet.  I've read the suggestion to measure waist, thighs, etc, and we'll probably do this to see if it helps keep us encouraged.  I have a problem with wanting to check the scales for progress, so maybe I should stay away until the weekend to see what my results are by then.

The weekend will truly be a challenge because that is when we tend to socialize over meals with friends.  Hopefully if we can exercise moderation and be "smart" about having one meal with 2 shakes in the day it won't take us too far off plan.

            Hi Mayeve,

Everyone is different when it comes to weight loss, some people see weight loss immediately and others take a few days or weeks to see weight loss. Be patient...you will see weight loss soon enough and if you stick to our program as prescribed, you will be losing weight.

You can divide the shakes into 6 shakes a day, or continue using Almased 3 times a day and up the amount to 8 tablespoons per serving and add another 1-4 tablespoons of Almased before and/or after a work-out depending on the level of intensity of your exercises. We have seen that the more people use Almased, the better the weight loss. It will be difficult to do any rigorous activity during phase 1 because of the low carb intake. During phase 1 we recommend light exercises like stretches, walking, yoga, or pilates. After phase 1, it would be a good idea to incorporate more moderate to vigorous physical activity.

Have you incorporated the oil in your diet? To keep a balanced diet while on Almased, we recommend adding 2-3 tablespoons of flaxseed, walnut, canola, or olive oil daily. You can either add the oil to your shakes or take it by it self. The oil will help curb appetite and the omega-3's from oil have been known to further improve the metabolism and help with other bodily functions.

We strongly recommend that your husband also drinks veggie broth or 100% low sodium veggie juice. Bouillon will not provide the same antioxidants and benefits as veggie broth that would  help counteract effects of a detoc during phase 1.

We also encourage you to measure your weight using a measuring tape instead of the scale. The scale will not take into account changes in body and water weight, and fat mass. Therefore, will not give an accurate rate of weight loss progress. Try measuring yourself (measure your hips, thighs, and abdominals) the same time and day once time a week. This will give you a better indication of your weight loss progress, and will also be more encouraging.

Don't be discouraged, this is only the beginning. Keep it up!

            - Jamie
