2nd week questions regarding meals... Tuesday, January 17, 2012 11:37 AM (permalink)

Silke,

I'm in my 2nd week and doing pretty good I think.  I've lost about 10 lbs and no longer feel bloated.  I face and stomach definitely look less swollen.  I feel wonderful and have tons of energy.  I do not crave between meals.  I had to make myself have my 2nd shake yesterday...but I did.  On Monday nights, we have dinner at a mexican restaurant with my inlaws.  I ordered two crispy tacos without the shells and some refried beans.  I also had a couple of tsp of salsa.  Is this ok Silke?  This is just a one night a week thing.

Tonight I will have about a 3-4 oz skinless-boneless chicken breast with maybe a tad of soy/balsamic vinegar.  I also made to Quinoa for a side dish.  I will doctor it up tonight.  I found some great recipes online.  I think I will make it somewhat Asian and used garlic, chopped onion, broccoli, italian seasons and lime juice.  I have a little ricotta cheese.  I may throw about a tbsp in there.  Is this a good well-balance meal Silke?  What about quanity at one sitting?  I was thinking 1/2 - 3/4 cup.  Quinoa is very feeling because of all the protein I think.  And..I personally like the texture.  You just have to come up with ways to flavor it.  Thank you.

    Hello CRamze,

It is ok, if you go out to eat every so often. The meal you had sounded fine.

Your chicken dish with quinoa sounds delicious! The meat portion should be about 3-4 oz and about 1/2 cup of whole grains (like quinoa). You can eat as many veggies as you like (except the starchy ones, like corn or potatoes). Flavoring your dishes can make a big difference, I agree. There are so many more flavors out there besides salt! I usually use dried herbs in the winter, e.g. thyme, basil, oregano...And garlic and pepper are a given in my dishes

Garlic is a must.  Thankfully, I love to cook and no how to use different flavors.  Your support is appreciated!
