Victoza and Metformin Friday, September 30, 2011 5:28 PM (permalink)
Just starting tomorrow and wanted some input:  I use a 500 mg Metformin twice a day and Victoza midmorning.  I guess I should mainly check my BS more often to monitor how I'm doing?  I also read where I should probably start with 2 shakes a day?   Do I have that right?
Thanks!

    Hi Janie12,

To start off, you can begin with 2 shakes a day, morning and evening. Test blood sugar levels right before and two hours after each drink to see how Almased affects your blood sugar levels. Mix with water only for the first couple of shakes, you should notice that your blood sugar levels barely rises. When you feel comfortable you can do three shakes a day for three days or just continue with two shakes a day until you reach your ideal body weight. And yes, blood sugar levels should be monitored very closely when you are on a fast or new diet program. Continue taking your medications as prescribed and consult a physician should you need to make changes to your medications.

    Goodluck Janie12! Keep us updated.

Thanks for answering, Jamie.  I hadn't heard anything before I started, but I just came off the 3 day fast and feel fine.  I've been checking my numbers and they've been good.  Yesterday was rough, thou'. I also have COPD and a wrongly swallowed vitamin started me coughing, almost non-stop, for 2 hours. Been bringing out a lot of "junk" from my lungs, which is a good thing.  And my usually tight chest has felt looser, if that makes any sense.
Am wondering if this could have anything to do with the toxins exiting? If so, this is a good deal!
I've lost 5 lbs, but I do weigh 214 at the onset.  I'm also 68 and because of the lung disease, I can't do much in the way of exercise, except things like vacuuming. So. I know I have a way to go but I'm trying to be realistic and I know I'll not see 140lbs. again!
Again, great to hear from you!

        Hello JANIE12,

I'm glad you are feeling better and your chest doesn't feel as tight. Whether or not this comes from released toxins is hard to say. I think it may be contributed to the diet change, eating less solid foods and feeling better overall.

        Keep up the good work.
