I'm New! Question about recipes? Monday, September 26, 2011 11:36 AM (permalink)
Hi everyone,

I am going to start my almased fast tomorrow and I am excited! I have had a lot of issues with weight loss and I am really hoping that this works for me. I tried a serving today to see how I like the taste and it was hard for me to drink. I know there are some recipes out there to help it taste better, but I am worried about how adding different ingredients will affect the weight loss. I don't want to use milk because I know that will add extra calories, but what about the other ingredients like the unsweetened chocolate powder or vanilla. Will that slow down my weight loss?

Thanks for any help!

    Hello JB,

    Welcome to the Almased forum!
Don't worry too much about adding calories to the Almased shake. The best liquid to use is water since it has no calories. You can add different flavors to water, such as cinnamon, vanilla extract, unsweetened cocoa powder etc. These will not effect your weight loss progress since you are only adding small amounts to the shake. Some of my customers also use flavored water.
For more variety, I encourage you to check out the Almased Fasting Figure Plan (http://www.almased.com/files/cm/Figure%20Plan_Fasting_book%20view.pdf). Starting on page 20, you can see some more Almased shake recipes. Don't be afraid of adding more flavors or even different liquids to Almased. Especially during the Almased liquid diet, you need to make sure to provide your body with sufficient calories.
In addition, I recommend adding 1-2 teaspoons of oils, such as flaxseed, walnut, olive or canola oil to each shake. This will give your body essential fatty acids which are vital for bodily functions.
Try out different flavors and liquids and see which one is your favorite.

Good luck with your weight loss journey and let us know how you are doing.
