It may even go down further towards a normal blood sugar level!
I also encourage you to read our Diabetes Figure Plan for more detailed information and recipe ideas: http://www.almased.com/files/cm/Figure%20Plan_Diabetes_book%20view.pdf

Let us know how you are doing.

Silke
Re:just recieved shipment (wcsc)

Hello, I just started today and I am Type 2 diabetic with 100 pounds to lose. I haven't been able to lose weight and all my number are going up. I am 61 years old. I took my BS before the Al it was 139 (usually higher) and then 2 hours after and it was 117. The shake was good, I added frozen blueberries and blackberries and a Splenda pack. I also weighed myself this morning. I look forward to taking this journey with this forum. Thanks, Sandy

Re:just recieved shipment (Almased_nutritionist)

  Hello Lena918,

Welcome to the Almased forum!

Almased has helped a lot of people with diabetes control their blood sugar and help them lose weight. A lot of my diabetes customers are able to reduce their medication after using Almased and losing weight with it. Some were even able to get off the medication but this all depends on each individual.
I definitely recommend to continue taking your medication as prescribed when you start with Almased. It is also important that you check your blood sugar frequently, especially in the beginning of the diet. Check your blood sugar before an Almased shake and 2 hours thereafter. It is always a good idea to see your doctor a few weeks into the diet to get a check up and to see if any medication can be adjusted.
I also encourage you to read our Diabetes Figure Plan (http://www.almased.com/files/cm/Figure%20Plan_Diabetes_book%20view.pdf) for more information on how to do the diet and recipe ideas.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Silke
Re:just recieved shipment (Lena918)

[size=3 font="times new roman"]Hello everyone, my name is Angelena and I'm new to the forum. I am at work and just discovered this fabulous product Almased when reading Redbook magazine. I read the article which led me to the website in which I found high enlightening. I am soo excited to finally find something that I think will help me with my goals of getting it all back in order; ie, health, hormones, weight loss, etc. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes type 2 about 4 mos ago. I didn't take it very well and find myself depressed and very upset about it at times. I also have hypertension and hypothyroidism and am on medication for all of them. I am taking 1000 mg metformin (500 mg 2x day), 5mg Glipizide, and 75 mg Levothyroxin about 6 pills a day and its hard for me. I have a hard time swallowing pills, always have, so you can imagine how rough this has been for me; almost to the point of wanting to give up. Well, now that I see a glimmer of hope with Almased, I can't wait to get started on it and pray it will help me to eliminate the pills altogether, help me lose weight and get everything under control. I do exercise several times a week. I want to know has anyone (diabetic) have been able to totally stop taking their meds since starting Almased? I want to be here for my children. I am 46 years old and want to be healthy and strong again. Will this truly enable me to get back to normal?

Re:just recieved shipment (Almased_nutritionist)

vickilynn

Oh...and I forgot to add that I've already lost 3 pounds! I started on Saturday evening and I even ate more food than I posted yesterday. I also had a bowl of sugar free icecream with peanut butter topping! It's no lie that Almased helps speed up a slow metabolism. I average a 9 pound loss per year. I've been at this for a very long time. My highest recorded weight was 270, years ago. So...this 3 pounds is definitely something for me to celebrate. It just doesn't happen like that for me. At least it didn't used to. I'm very pleased.

Victoria

Victoria,

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. So, your blood sugar of 129 is good.

Keep in mind that if you are on the liquid diet and it seems hard to stay away from solid food, you can discontinue with the liquid diet and have Almased twice per day and eat one regular meal. You should be comfortable with the diet and don't feel forced into it.

Silke
Re:just recieved shipment (vickilynn)

  Silke:

Thank you. I appreciate your prompt reply. I did check my blood sugar 2 hours after my midday shake and it was 129. Not that bad. I was pleasantly surprised. Now, to see what my fasting will be tomorrow morning. I did get hungry. I had 2 cups of vegetable broth, but when I grilled my husband's pork chops...I had to have 2! At least they were grilled and we ate dinner before 5:30. My starting weight is 183. I'm really looking forward to a re-energized immune system. While I was doing laundry, I thought of something a bit funny, though. Did I have more energy, or was I afraid to slow down and then face the temptation to eat?

Thanks again,
Victoria

Re:just recieved shipment (Almased_nutritionist)

  Hello vickilynn,

Welcome to the Almased forum!

I'm glad you enjoyed your first Almased shake.

Make sure to check your blood sugar level frequently especially at the beginning of the diet. I recommend checking your blood sugar right before you take an Almased shake and then 2 hrs thereafter. That way you can best see how Almased might affect your blood sugar level and if any of your medication needs to be adjusted.

You can definitely add the ground flaxseeds to the shake. That is a great idea! Flaxseeds not only give it a nutty flavor but they also provide you with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids which are vital for your body. You can add 2 Tablespoon of ground flaxseeds to the shake. I would suggest adding 1-2 teaspoons of grapeseed oil to the shake rather than 1 Tablespoon. This oil (as well as olive and flaxseed oil) are essential for you and can actually support your metabolism and bodily functions and therefore help with weight loss - if taken in moderation.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Silke
Re:just recieved shipment (vickilynn)

Thanks Cecilia, best to you, too. Did you start, yet?

I have a question for the administrator. Will adding ground flax hinder weight loss? Also, if I add the flax, do I need to add the oil? I used grapeseed oil this morning, but realized that adds 120 calories to my drink. It was delicious this morning, BTW. I added 1T flax, 1T grapeseed oil, 1 packet stevia, about 6 oz water, and a dash of vanilla. But that brings the calorie count up to around 360. I don't want to inhibit the metabolism boost that's supposed to happen. If adding these things will do that, I'm perfectly fine just using water.

Re:just recieved shipment (Cecilia)

Hi vickilynn. I am planning on buying so Almased tomorrow, at a pharmacy listed in my town. I am wishing you and myself the very best!

Re:just recieved shipment (vickilynn)

It tastes just fine. And...wow...is it filling. I blended with water and ice.
just recieved shipment (vickilynn)

I'm very excited to begin taking Almased. I'm a type 2 diabetic. I've been diagnosed for about 6 years. I've just recently been ill and my blood sugar became very unstable. I take oral medication, exercise, and diet to control it. I still have several pounds to lose and I'm just not ready to give in and be the overweight, insulin-dependent diabetic. I'm not waiting until tomorrow to begin. I'm going to blend some Almased for dinner tonight. I already have my vegetable broth made and frozen. I'm also excited to see if this helps with my fasting glucose readings, which are normally elevated. My name is Victoria, I'm 51 and married to an amazing man, BTW.
